CM Vijay Starts Governance with Key Appointments
Just hours after officially taking charge as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay moved swiftly into action mode by making key appointments in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader has already started reshaping the state administration with the appointment of two senior IAS officers as his close aides.
The move signals that Tamil Nadu CM Vijay is ready to begin his governance with a strong administrative structure and a fast-paced working style.
P Senthil Kumar Appointed Principal Secretary to CM Vijay
Senior IAS officer P. Senthil Kumar has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vijay. He will also serve as Special Secretary-1 in the Chief Minister’s Office.
Previously, Senthil Kumar served as the Secretary of the Health Department and is known for his administrative experience and policy management skills. His appointment is being viewed as an important strategic move by the new Tamil Nadu CM Vijay government.
Political analysts believe that this decision reflects Vijay’s intention to build an efficient and result-oriented administrative team from day one.
G Lakshmi Priya Gets Key Responsibility in CMO
Along with Senthil Kumar, senior IAS officer G. Lakshmi Priya has been appointed as Special Secretary-2 in the Chief Minister’s Office.
Lakshmi Priya was earlier serving as Secretary in the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department. Sources suggest that another Special Secretary may also be appointed soon as part of the restructuring process inside the Tamil Nadu CMO.
Traditionally, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office includes one Joint Secretary and three Special Secretaries to manage different departments and administrative responsibilities effectively.
Vijay Takes Charge Immediately After Oath Ceremony
Earlier in the day, Tamil Nadu CM Vijay took oath at a grand ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. After the swearing-in ceremony, he reached the Tamil Nadu Secretariat where he received a formal Guard of Honour from the police department.
Senior government officials welcomed the new Chief Minister and briefed him about administrative procedures and ongoing government operations.
According to officials present at the Secretariat, Vijay appeared emotional before sitting on the Chief Minister’s chair for the first time. Senior minister K. A. Sengottaiyan encouraged him during the moment, after which Vijay officially assumed office with a smile.
Administrative Changes Expected Under Vijay Government
The latest appointments are also being seen as the beginning of major administrative changes after the end of the previous DMK-led government under M. K. Stalin.
During Stalin’s tenure, senior IAS officers including Udayachandran, Shanmugam, and Anu George worked as Special Secretaries in the Chief Minister’s Office. Several reshuffles had already taken place in recent years, and now Vijay appears ready to build his own trusted administrative team.
Experts believe that Tamil Nadu CM Vijay may continue making important bureaucratic and policy-level changes in the coming weeks.
